The Head To Heart Program

The head to heart program is focused on the development of business strategy and, probably more importantly, developing the will and desire to implement the strategy.

...Each of the three men was asked, what are you doing:
The first responded, "I'm laying bricks."
The second, "I'm building a wall."
The third, "I'm building a cathedral."
You come with me, you are destined for greater things...

There are so many strategies that lie on bookshelves gathering dust. It's not that the strategies are necessarily poor; often what is lacking is the will power and desire to achieve the intent of those strategies. The focus is on laying bricks or building a wall, when what is required are cathedral builders.

The head to heart program takes the group of people who must deliver on the strategy through the process of defining and describing the intent and focus of that strategy. During the planning process, they also experience theinnergame process of achievement, through the accomplishment of a physical endeavour as a team.

Factors such as their belief systems, communication methods, the emotional cycle of change, models of empowerment and decision making, their ability to persevere through adversity and to engender the support of others are explored and experienced.

Through this experience, people develop a belief in themselves that they can achieve the extraordinary. There is a group realization that the interdependency is significant and that the whole picture is dependent on their part.

There is an awareness developed

  • that each of the parties involved is as equally concerned about the reality of the strategy as the other;
  • that each of the parties is needed to focus and commit to delivery if the extraordinary is to be achieved;
  • that each of the parties will impact the will of the other;
  • that it is only through an individual commitment to the shared goal that the strategy will work.

The business strategy, whether it be to support a growth target, margin improvement, product development, team formation, etc, is stated in such a manner that the purpose behind the objective is clear. This provides an ability for the individuals to then chose to commit or not to the objective at hand.
